"I chose the design of a Turner’s Cube because the precision, planning, design, and skill required to make one felt like a good representation of what it takes to develop a great application. When developing software, you need to consider design, attention to the development environment, choice of tools, requirements based on a set of goals, and the desired look and feel. The Turner’s Cube has a history as a metalworking challenge because of the precision required to create the cube – the corners are held together by thousandths of an inch, and every layer must be cut with skill and precision or the entire cube will collapse. It felt like a worthy marker of achievement in building software with the same care and precision." - Bruce Kannry
